« Energy, environment and development: analysing Opportunities for reducing poverty »
The purpose of the event was to bring together Asian experts to discuss the links between energy, the environment, and poverty.
A total of 250 participants from 23 countries attended this event, which particularly featured presentations by key players in Asia such as Dr. Rajendra Pachauri (Chairman of the IPCC) and Professor Emil Salim (former Indonesian Minister for Population and Environment).
More than 60 speakers, some of them chosen based on their scientific contributions and others for their recognized expertise in the subjects under discussion, debated a wide variety of issues from energy, lifestyle, and technological advances, to globalization, R&D, and more. The combination of conceptual presentations and practical case studies opened the way for a concrete, rich dialogue, as well as a high level of audience interaction.
