Thierry - Berthoud

Thierry Berthoud is currently Vice-President International Relations and Government Affairs for Alcan Inc. He supervises the Alcan Government Relations teams in Ottawa, Washington, Paris, Brussels, Moscow, Beijing and he is based in Montreal.

From 1974 and 1988, he worked for the French Atomic Energy Commission in different positions of responsibility in research laboratories in the field of materials science. From 1989 to 1990, he was in charge of the French Department (Premier Ministre administration) in charge of the implementation in France of the Euratom Treaty provisions.

Thierry Berthoud joined Pechiney in October 1990 and acted as chief of a materials science laboratory within the Corporate Research Center until 1995. In 1995 he was appointed as Vice President European Affairs within the International and Government Affairs Department. He was particularly involved in developing Pechiney approach of Climate Change and of sustainability. From 2001 to 2003, he was Vice President Strategy and Business Development for the Primary Aluminium Sector, with involvement in projects in Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, China, India, and Russia.

Thierry Berthoud graduated in Electrical Engineering in Paris (France) and has a PhD degree in Physics (Material Science) from the University of Paris. Thierry Berthoud holds both French and Swiss citizenship. He is married and has 3 teenage daughters.
