Truman T. Semans

Truman Semans is Director for Markets and Business Strategy at the Pew Center on Global Climate Change and runs the Business Environmental Leadership Council (BELC). With 43 members representing over $2.7 trillion in combined revenue and 3.3 million employees worldwide, the BELC is the largest U. S.-based association of major corporations dedicated to advancing solutions to climate change. Prior to joining Pew, Truman served as Vice President of environmental management software firm Ecos Technologies, a consultant with McKinsey & Co., the U. S. Treasury's International Economist on energy and environment, and program manager for the International Institute for Energy Conservation. At Treasury, he served on the U. S. climate change negotiating team, advised the White House on trade and investment in environmental technologies, and managed U. S. interests as lead shareholder in the Global Environment Facility, which was then the largest financier worldwide of climate and renewable energy projects in emerging markets. Truman has also worked in Deutsche Bank's private equity group. He has a Masters with Distinction from Johns Hopkins SAIS and an MBA from Duke University. He sits on several boards, including with Duke's Nicholas School of the Environment and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
