Author's short biography

Ari Rabl

Dr. Rabl is Senior Scientist at the Centre d'Energétique of the Ecole des Mines in Paris. He received a PhD in physics from Berkeley, and has worked at Argonne National Laboratory and at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, USA. From 1980 to 1989 he was Research Scientist and Lecturer at the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies of Princeton University.

He has published well over a hundred articles in journals or books, and a comparable number of conference presentations (high energy physics, optics, heat transfer, solar energy, energy policy, energy economics, environmental impact analysis), as well as eleven patents.

He is the author of the book Active Solar Collectors and Their Applications (503 p. Oxford University Press, 1985) and co-author of the book Heating and Cooling of Buildings: Design for Efficiency (With J. F. Kreider. 890 p. McGraw-Hill, 1994, 2nd ed 2001).

He has coordinated several multinational research projects of the EC. He is a member of the Society for Risk Analysis, the Federation of American Scientists, and the American Physical Society.
