Institut Veolia Environnement

The Institute's full-time staff

Within the framework of the orientations defined with the Foresight Committee, the permanent staff identifies themes for reflection as well as the most qualified experts to carry out its program of studies.

The staff's mission is to initiate projects, coordinate on-going work, and to exploit the results obtained. It also is responsible for organizing international conferences on environmental foresight. In addition the Institute will develop a scientific editorial policy.

Georges Valentis

Managing Director

With an engineering degree from Athens Polytechnic school, Greece, and a PhD in environmental studies from the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris, France, Georges Valentis joined Compagnie Générale des Eaux in 1989, where he served as head of the European branch of Anjou-Recherche, the water research branch. In 1992, he took on the mission of creating CREED, the Environment, Energy and Waste Research Center where he served as Managing Director and President. Since 1993 he has been teaching the waste recycling and treatment course at the Ecole des Mines de Douai, France. Then he contributed to the creation of the Veolia Environment Institute of which he became Managing Director in September 2001.

Gaëll Mainguy

Director of Scientific Publications

Gaëll Mainguy is a former pupil of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris and a Doctor in Molecular biology (Pierre and Marie Curie University). He successively works for the CNRS (Paris), the Center for Biomedical Genetics (Utrecht, The Netherlands) and the INSERM (Paris). In 2004, he is elected President of the World Association of Young Scientists (WAYS), an international organization founded by UNESCO. Gaëll Mainguy joins the Institute in 2006 to develop a scientific editorial policy. Since he designed it in 2007, he's in charge of S.A.P.I.EN.S, an international scientific journal.

Christine Rodwell

Director of FACTS Initiative

Christine Rodwell obtained a degree from HEC in 1992, with the International Track and Geopolitical options. She became journalist for Le Moniteur in Paris, and then for the Agence France Presse (AFP) in London before spending ten years abroad: in Great Britain, Brazil, Argentina and Monaco. When she came back to France, she took care of a youth programme at the Guilde Européenne du Raid. Then she was head Reporters of Hope, which intends to promote solution-oriented information within the media. In 2010, she joined the Veolia Environment Institute, as Director of FACTS Initiative. Christine Rodwell participates also, since its launch in 2008, to the "Social Business, Enterprise and Poverty" Chair at HEC which is chaired by Muhammad Yunus and Martin Hirsch.

Ludivine Houssin

Project Manager - Scientific Congress and Partnerships

Former student of the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Commerciales d'Angers (ESSCA), France, and holding a master's degree of International Trade and Management, Ludivine HOUSSIN began her career at Cogema. Then, as an assistant of a French congressman, she worked mostly on subjects related to the environment, health and energy. She also organized an international conference on sustainable development for the French Pavilion at the 2005 Aichi World Expo before she joined the Institut Veolia Environnement in 2006.

Dany Martin

Personal Assistant

After graduating in foreign languages and working within executive search companies, Dany Martin joined the Compagnie Générale des Eaux (Veolia Water) in 1994. She joined the Institut Veolia Environnement in 2006.

Monique Fourdrignier

Personal Assistant

After working for 10 years as secretary to the congressman for Val-de-Marne, France, Monique Fourdrignier joined Compagnie Générale des Eaux in 1992, where she worked for the Communication and Public Relations department. She joined the Institut Veolia Environnement in 2002 as Personal Assistant.
