The world’s health and its economies depend closely on the health of its ecosystems. But investment in nature restoration remains at levels well below what is needed to ensure long-term protection for the natural world. The answer cannot come solely from conventional financing mechanisms, predominantly public, as they remain insufficient. There is a need to mobilize new private capital by creating innovative solutions that limit uncertainty and risk profiles. This is why AXA teamed up with SCOR to launch an insurance product that covers the cost of restoring natural ecosystems following an incident, as part of nature restoration projects. Rigorous processes based on exhaustive due diligence and a network of international experts have secured reliable restoration pathways to encourage investors to finance nature restoration.
